Most electronic safe locks impose a penalty lockout after 3-5 wrong entries. The lockout period ranges from 5 minutes on basic locks to 30 minutes on high-security models. During the lockout, the keypad will not accept any code entry. Wait for the full penalty period to expire, then try again with the correct code. If you are not sure of the code, call us rather than guessing further.

The safe stays locked, but your codes are preserved in the lock memory. Replace the battery (usually a 9V or 4 AA batteries accessed from the front of the keypad) and enter your code normally. No codes or settings are lost during a battery change.

We activate the feature, set the clock, and demonstrate how to download and review the log. Basic locks like SentrySafe and budget SecuRam models do not support audit trails.

Some commercial-grade locks (S&G Titan, Kaba Mas Cencon) support time-zone restrictions that limit when certain user codes can open the safe. For example, you can restrict a code to work only between 6AM and 6PM on weekdays. This feature is not available on most residential-grade locks.

Yes. Salt air corrodes battery contacts, keypad membranes, and solenoid components. Safes in coastal homes should have their battery contacts inspected every 6 months. Use lithium batteries for better humidity tolerance. A sealed-keypad lock like the S&G Titan holds up better in coastal environments than an exposed-membrane keypad.

A manager reset changes the master code while preserving all other user codes, time delay settings, and audit logs. A factory reset wipes everything and returns the lock to its factory default state. We use manager resets whenever possible. Factory resets are a last resort when the master code is completely lost and no other recovery method works.

Yes. We configure the delay period (typically 10-15 minutes as specified by your policy), the override window, and verify the timing with a stopwatch. We can also provide written documentation of the settings for your insurance file.
